In 2007, as an integral part of Bennett College's strategic plan, Dr. Julianne Malveaux, President of the College, chose to empasize "Entrepreneurship" as a key component of the "Four Foci" for the college curriculum.
Established in 2008, the Center for Entrepreneurial Studies provides academic opportunities for young women at Bennett College.
Entrepreneurial Studies seeks to prepare and inspire principled, high-impact young entrepreneurs whos innovations improve people's lives and solve important problems of today and tomorrow. Students learn how to identify and evaluate opportunities. Young women can acquire a framework to conceptualize, finance, launch, manage, and harvest a wide variety of new ventures. These can include commercial businesses such as high-tech startups as well as not-for-profit enterprises that address urgent and persistent human needs. Students may also choose to apply their entrepreneurial knowledge to existing family businesses or elect to create new ventures or products within large corporations.
